What to expect

Brisbane Feeding Clinic runs as an inter-professional clinic combining Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy for feeding support.

What does that mean?
You and your child will be seen by both an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Pathologist at the same time in your assessment appointment.

What can you expect?
Before you come to your first appointment, we will ask you to complete a comprehensive feeding history. Completing these forms will allow the therapists more time during your appointment to observe your child’s feeding skills and answer your questions.

In your first appointment (which will take one hour), Pippa and Carly will talk to you more about you and your child’s feeding, as well as observe your child eating some typical foods.  We will then provide you with an understanding of why your child is experiencing feeding difficulties and make some early recommendations for you. You will leave your first session with practical ideas to implement straight away.

Subsequent individual appointments may be recommended and will focus on areas that you wish to explore further, as well as direct intervention with your child.

If you have come recommended by another therapy practice, you can return to your usual therapist for longer term therapy or stay with Brisbane Feeding Clinic for feeding therapy if you wish.  Your therapist is welcome to contact us for more information or you can take what you have learned directly to them.

Where are we located?
Our address is 598 Rode Rd, Chermside. We are located in the top building and parking is available onsite.

Payments and rebates
Assessments will be invoiced as two separate invoices in order to claim either EPC Medicare Rebate, Private Health or NDIS Funding (if applicable) for Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy. We are not NDIS registered, so are only able to see self or plan managed clients.

Payment is by Eftpos on the day of the appointment.

Rebates from health funds are variable, so please contact your  provider and check your health fund limits.

EPC rebate (via Medicare) is available if your GP is happy to formulate a care plan for Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy. Please discuss with your GP.

Please contact us if you would like us to book our next available assessment appointment.
